Nana Star - Contest!
7:35 AM Posted by Bits from a Brit
I would like to introduce you to a fabulous doll for your kids. The Nana Star doll is a soft cloth doll which is really light weight and very pretty. She comes with a beautiful book and CD which shares the story of Nana Star. This sweet doll has a well written story that will keep your children interested throughout. The moment we received our Nana Star Doll in the mail Alex was so excited to play with it, I couldn't get the packaging open quickly enough! Now she even takes Nana Star for walks and tries to give her a bath. It is so cute! I love that this doll has Ballerina style legs, we cross them over at the ankles so she can sit just like Alex when we read the story. Each Nana Star book includes an accompanying audio CD with the storybook and a sing-along song. To make the book a little more interactive, the authors have included a spelling mistake in each book and encourage readers to find it and send them a postcard with the correction. Children are then eligible to receive an 8x10 photo of the Nana Star costumed character and become an honorary member of the Nana Star Little Twinkles Club. The Club is expanded on its website, Nana Star, where language arts activities for emerging readers are offered.
We have a Nana Star Doll & Book set to giveaway! Visit http://www.nanastar.com/ and leave us a comment telling us the name of one of her friends, please remember to include you email address. GOOD LUCK!
About the Real Nana Star from their site!
Elizabeth Owens is the creator of Nana Star and, to those who know and love her, she is the real Nana Star. Born February 1, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland, Elizabeth has three children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.Elizabeth had a very special relationship with her grandson, Vance. Together they stood by the bedroom window at night gazing at the stars. Vance often asked his Nana, "Is the Moonman really out there?" Nana told him that the Moonman was always there for him. When Vance moved away, Elizabeth sent him hand-crafted cards made of construction paper and illustrated with numerous darling characters, drawn with markers and decorated with colorful stickers. She became "Nana Star" and, with the Moonman and many other friends, watched over Vance. This was Elizabeth's way of showing Vance that she was always with him.Over time, an enchanting collection of thoughtful cards and remembrances inspired by Nana Star came into being. The characters in this sweet and endearing collection touched the hearts of everyone who saw them. Now the next generations are involved in sharing Nana Star's magic through a picture book series and toy collection. Linda Saker, Owens's daughter, is the series illustrator; her granddaughters, Elizabeth Sills and Elena Patrice, write and publish the Nana Star stories; and her five great-grandchildren have contributed inspiration to this special undertaking.Elizabeth created Nana Star out of a great love for Vance and a desire to give him a sense of home wherever he was. Today, we hope to extend that same love and feeling of belonging to children everywhere, in dedication to Vance, who now dances among the stars.
